This large Victorian Silver locket is a phenomenal example of "Victorian Aesthetic" jewellery. It's named Victorian Aesthetic due to its extreme popularity during the late Victorian era and is loved for it's highly patterned and richly textured look.
This locket is a real statement piece of jewellery, measuring over 6cm from top to bottom if you include the stylish over-sized bale!
Crafted from English Sterling Silver, this is a locket with true heritage and quality craftsmanship. It has the most incredible repousse or embossing work and a cute "button-down" star motif, and is fully hallmarked for the year 1883.
We've added an 18" solid Silver heavy belcher chain so this rare antique Victorian locket is ready to wear or gift straight away.

This large Victorian Silver locket is in incredible condition! Indeed, it's difficult to believe this 135 phenomenal piece of jewellery is 135 years of age! The detailed repousse or embossing work to the front is absolutely perfect, with no dents or damage whatsoever. The back is also damage-free and the hallmarks are clear. The over-sized bale is also fantastic and has not been bent or twisted- as so many are. Inside there is one original Silver frame, and two pieces of later perspex to keep your photographs in place.
One thing to note is a small piece of Silver has been added to the side of the locket (opposite the hinge). It's likely this was added to help keep the locket closed. It is quite subtle and has been done sympathetically. The heavy Silver belcher chain is new so will easily support the weight of the locket, so you can wear it daily without a care.
