This extraordinary antique enamel mourning locket is one of the finest we've ever seen. Crafted in luxurious 15ct Gold and elegant scrolls of Gold and smooth black enamel throughout, it's a rare and superb heirloom that's made its way through the decades completely unscathed. It is quite simply... perfect!

The locket is a fine piece of antique Victorian jewellery, and has been made to the highest possible standards. There is a discreet button on top of the bale that will open the locket, wherein you'll find the memory:

"Harriet Alston,  ob 15 Oct 1852, Age 38" carefully inscribed.

For antiques lovers and historians alike it's wonderful to see the memory of a young lady kept alive by this beautiful relic 166 years later.

The locket opens and closes firmly so you can wear it with absolute confidence, and the glazed hair panel inside is pristine! (Which is very rare indeed). And the initials "HA" are also engraved into the small decorative Gold centre- giving this beautiful enamel locket another layer of history.

A superb collector's piece! It's a great wearable size and clearly made to last! Wear it on a simple Gold chain, a black velvet ribbon or a chunky heavyweight Gold albert chain.

ERA:  Early Victorian,c1852

MEASUREMENTS: The total length of the locket measures 35mm (inc. bale) by 23mm, and is 3.5mm wide.

HALLMARKS:  None present. Tested as solid 15ct Gold.

CONDITION:  Pristine
This stunning antique enamel mourning locket is absolutely pristine, and is quite truly one of the most beautiful and special of all the lockets we have in our collection! The fine enamel work is flawless! There are no dents, chips, scuffs or loose areas of enamel. The Gold has a high shine lustre and has been tested as 15ct solid Gold (not plated or hollow). The glass inside is a rare and beautiful thing- perfectly polished and again without fault. The mechanism to open the locket is quite stiff (please take care opening it!), and this is testament to how well it's been looked after. If anything it has hardly been worn.
