Edwardian Sterling Silver Cherub Buttons

This item is unavailable
SKU: x2403

We are in awe of these Edwardian Sterling Silver cherub buttons! This duo are crafted from lustrous Sterling Silver, using the repoussé technique, both buttons depict sacred cherubs each with a slightly different design.

Although her 'T.H' import mark on the front is attributed to Theodore Hartmann, these were actually crafted by German Silversmith Karl Kurz, who would then exclusively deal to Theodore Hartmann, to sell within the UK.

With cherubs or 'putti' playing the role of angelic spirits in religious works, or acting as instruments of profane love, these Sterling Silver cherub buttons would make for striking buttons affixed to a garment or just to keep as a collectible pair, displayed amongst your other antique items!

VERY GOOD. These Edwardian Sterling Silver cherub buttons are in very good condition. They have maintained their structural integrity well, with their repoussé work remaining bold. The Silver has accrued an admirable patina over the years, distinguishing their cherub motif even more. With secure loops to the back of each button, they are ready to use however desired! They make quite the pair!
