We are in awe of these Edwardian Sterling Silver cherub buttons! This duo are crafted from lustrous Sterling Silver, using the repoussé technique, both buttons depict sacred cherubs each with a slightly different design.
Although her 'T.H' import mark on the front is attributed to Theodore Hartmann, these were actually crafted by German Silversmith Karl Kurz, who would then exclusively deal to Theodore Hartmann, to sell within the UK.
With cherubs or 'putti' playing the role of angelic spirits in religious works, or acting as instruments of profane love, these Sterling Silver cherub buttons would make for striking buttons affixed to a garment or just to keep as a collectible pair, displayed amongst your other antique items!
