We’re desperate to know what this Early 20th Century Silver Mesh handbag might have once held! Now you can fill her with your own treasures. A precursor to the micro-bag trend of today, and the chainmail bags Paco Rabanne first made iconic on the discotheque dance floors of the 1960s, this bag and her contemporaries were the originals. Dating from 1915, her mesh links are petite and crowned with a kiss-clasp closure.
Entirely crafted from Sterling Silver, the trombone chain link handle is hallmarked in places with .925 and the frame is additionally stamped with an acorn and two leaves, which replaced the Chester town mark between 1904-1962. Her muted shine, fringe and curved frame give this antique handbag a feminine allure; perfect for any punk princess!

VERY GOOD. The interwoven links of this Early 20th Century Silver Mesh handbag are in impressive condition considering they have been in use for more than 100 years! Under close inspection, just a few are missing from her fringe and body, but as the handbag’s pouch is linked so closely, this isn’t noticeable when in use. There is a penny-sized patch of discolouration to the main body which again can easily be overlooked, along with some pinprick nibbles on one shoulder of the frame. Lastly, some solder can be seen below the kiss clasp, but you’ll be so enamoured with the bag’s overall sweetness, you’ll forgive this tiny touch-up.
