Split rings were a staple of Georgian and Victorian jewellery, allowing charms, fobs, lockets and pendants to be slipped onto chatelaines, collars and Albert chains.
Made from a simple ring of 9ct Gold with a cleverly placed split in the centre, they were often embellished with deeply carved patterns of floral and foliate design, just as this one is.
This beautiful antique 9ct Gold split ring measures 1.5cm diameter so is a great versatile size and is in mint condition.
Wear it on a simple chain to show off all your beautiful charms!
ERA: Victorian (1837-1901)
MEASUREMENTS: 40mm inner circumference x 1.5mm thick.
MATERIALS: 9ct Yellow Gold.
HALLMARKS: None present, tested as 9ct.
This authentic antique 9ct Gold split ring is in beautiful condition. The pattern is still visible both back and front and no visible wear, which is amazing considering it's near 200 years of age! It's in excellent usable condition and hasn't been "split" or stretched.
