Gold FIX jewellery was made by specialist French jeweller c.1900. FIX is essentially rolled gold, in which a “sandwich” consisting of a plate of copper between two thin plates of gold is compressed between rollers to the required thickness and then stamped into the form of the piece!

HALLMARKS: FIX on back of brooch, DOUBLÉ on c-clasp.

There are only minor areas of light wear throughout. The delicate detailing on the snake head remains clear to the naked eye, and most importantly, her pin hooks securely.
