MATERIALS: The majority of the chain is antique French 18ct Gold, with. There is a small section of 9ct Gold belcher links directly next to the clasp on both sides.
HALLMARKS: The hasp on the fancy linked chain is hallmarked on one side with 5 clear and lovely French antique eagle's head hallmarks for 18ct Gold. The fancy section also tests as as 18ct Gold, with 18ct jump-rings and an 18ct bolt-ring. The intermediate links next to the fancy section also test as 18ct Gold, with only the smallest 4 or 5 links nearest the clasp as 9ct Gold.
Condition:
EXCELLENT-VERY GOOD. This beautiful 15" 18ct Gold French choker chain is in very good to excellent antique condition. The chain has a splendid Gold hue, and is an impressive 22.6 grams. The bolt-ring functions well and is hallmarked, whilst the fancy section of the chain has the highest concentration of French antique hallmarks we've ever seen in one place! Swoon! The chain is also in lovely condition with no damage, dents, cracks or dings to note. We believe the alternating design featuring smooth belcher links are an addition from a different chain, but which is also a genuine antique from the Victorian era. If you only seek antiques which are 100% original, then this piece may not be the one for you. However, if you're after unique pieces made of quality materials that are in exceptional condition after over 100 years, then this chain may be "the one"!
