The Miami Beach Antique Show 2018

The Miami Beach Antique Show 2018
At Lillicoco we love a good antique show. You’ll often find us delving into jewellery stands up and down the UK. However, there is one particular show that we’d love to attend, and that’s the Miami Beach Antique show. Unfortunately, due to it being further afield we have not yet been able to commit, but what an incredible collection of vintage jewellery it has.

This year, the antique show was held between the 9th-12th of February 2018 at the Miami Fair Expo centre. The expo centre has been its temporary home for the last two years, due to its original venue going under renovation. The 80-acre venue held four exhibit halls full of the finest antique products and the collections include jewellery from all over the world.

The Miami Antique Show is the largest indoor antique show in America and is a huge landmark in the jewellery calendar. Across the four days there were 600 dealers, coming from 28 different countries in attendance. This meant that the possibilities were almost endless, and looking for that special item were all of the 18,000 people who visited the show.

The show is run by the U.S. Antique Shows group who are at the centre of many other events throughout the year. The organisation are the world’s largest producer of indoor antique shows and bring with them a wealth of experience.

The sheer number of vendors contained something for everyone, and specialists were in attendance covering all manner of Novel Collection were there showing off their natural fancy colour diamonds. The green diamonds below were just one of their beautiful items.

Other notable vendors on site were Jewels by Grace from Los Angeles. They had a particularly sparkly collection at the show and the skinny navette ring was just one of their standout items. Set in yellow gold, the chunky diamonds look fantastic, and the ring has a particularly futuristic style to it.

Some of our favourite jewellery bloggers were also in attendance and were on hand to find some truly marvellous items. The delectable Danielle from @GemGossip put up her finds and we really loved them. We particularly enjoyed the infinity symbol ring with its black enamel and beautiful diamond stones.

Danielle also found this delightful turquoise and diamond necklace at the Oak Gem stand. We find turquoise such an elegant colour and this necklace is the perfect example of classiness.

Becky Stone of @Diamondsinthelibrary is another jewellery obsessive that we love and she also found some excellent items at the Miami show. This locket is a delightful little Edwardian piece with truly mesmerising detail. The blue background is enough to compete with any sky.

If Art Nouveau is more your thing, and we don’t blame you, then this antique brooch will be just the ticket. Nick Kay of Eternity Jewellery from London brought this lovely art nouveau brooch. Dating from the 1880’s, the blend of pearl, diamond, and emeralds make for a real showstopper.

Authentic vintage jeweller, Yafa, had this pink ceramic snake from Bulgari caught our attention too and what a piece of pure glamour it is! The gold detail really offsets the pink, and the sparkling eyes are adorable. The final feature of the clock within its mouth is just incredible too.

If you reside in the US or are due to visit in the near future then you might want to check one of the U.S. Antiques Shows. They will be in Las Vegas from May 31st to June 3rd with their jewellery and watch show. Following this event, they’ll be in New York from July 27th until the 29th with another jewellery and watch show. Head to their website for more information.

If all this jewellery talk has got your appetite going then why not have a look at some of our recent pieces. Maybe something like this antique 18ct gold opal and diamond ring. Dated over at over a 100 years old this is a beautiful ring full of character.

Wowzers! If that’s not enough to get your sparkly hearts gleaming then we don’t know what is! We certainly hope to be in attendance at the 2019 show and we look forward to seeing you there too x
