This beautiful Silver Paste heart pendant is a genuine antique Victorian piece, circa 1900.
“Paste” or "Strass" is a special type of hard flint glass invented in 1724. It was skillfully cut & polished by hand until it appeared to glitter like Diamonds in the light and was an instant hit with the high society!
Paste is really a charming and beautiful material and continues to be highly sought after today.
This pretty little heart has been embellished with 25 individually cut and hand-set Paste gemstones that twinkle beautifully as you move! The Silver setting has darkened slightly with age which gives the paste gemstones a lovely contrast to shine out from and it's a great wearable size.
It looks stunning worn on a simple Silver chain or velvet as a necklace, or could be fitted to a cherished charm bracelet.
A unique and memorable romantic gift... perhaps even a wedding gift?
The pendant comes with the 18" vintage Silver chain pictured.

This gorgeous antique Paste heart pendant is in perfect antique condition. All of the Paste stones are original and are secure in their settings and completely chip-free. Unlike a lot of antique Pastes that dis-colours and turns dark or brown these have retained a bright Diamond-like fire and sparkle. As you might expect of a 200 year old piece of jewellery there are some light signs of wear on the facet edges with a x10 magnification loupe, but to the eye they are simply a beautiful thing to behold! It will make a very thoughtful gift or new addition to your jewellery box.
