This formidable Sterling Silver locket is a superb example of Victorian jewellery- crafted during the late 19th Century. Even during this era where large lockets were very popular, this one really is something special. In fact it's one of the biggest and heaviest we've ever seen at 5cm long and over 20 grams!
It has a simple oval design with a clean flat profile, and the over-sized bale which is so synonymous with Victorian Aesthetic jewellery.
On one side we have a geometric pattern with a blank cartouche to the centre- just perfect for engraving with an initial, special message or date. To the other side we have a simple fern motif.
In the Victorian era a fern motif symbolised a fascination or passion and there' s space to hold 2 large photographs or even a love letter inside- making this locket a fantastic choice as a romantic gift or a gift for memorable occasion such as a wedding or special anniversary.
