A beautiful antique Sterling Silver locket, hallmarked for the year 1884.
It's a stunning example of repousse work where the locket is painstakingly embossed with wonderful detail & texture. This style of embellishment is often referred to as "Victorian Aesthetic" due to it's popularity during Queen Victoria's reign between 1837 and 1901.
As you can see a combination of patterns and textures, embossed sections and parts in relief create a detailed and stunning effect!
In the centre you can see fine & detailed engraving work of a foliate design has been expertly applied by hand. The different tiers add light and shadow to create a wonderful dramatic appearance and of course the gorgeous star-spangled border is typical of the Victorian Era.
Full of charm & excellent aged patina.
A gorgeous antique locket with a Gothic style that can be worn and enjoyed for many decades to come!
