This amazing Georgian brooch is a real show-stopper and can't fail but grab your attention. With its bright red foiled center-stone and the pretty border of seed Pearls it's vibrant, eye-catching and beautiful!
The brooch is crafted in 9ct Rose Gold and was made during the Georgian era.
If you're familiar with Georgian jewellery you'll know that the gorgeous Ruby coloured center is not original to the piece. It was most likely a Paste stone that's been lost or damaged in the past 200 years, and has been replaced by a rather unusual, but extremely beautiful foiled plastic gem!
This alteration has been expertly done, and the gem has been foiled - exactly as they would have done during the Georgian era to create a really deep and luminous sparkle.
We love the way it's turned out, and the rich colour pop of the red looks great with the Yellow Gold detailing on the front!
It makes a fabulous brooch but we could also see it worn as a pendant or converted to a huge scene-stealing "Kapow!" ring!
ERA: Georgian (1714 - 1830)
MEASUREMENTS: 26mm in diameter x 10mm deep.
The foiled plastic is 17mm in diameter.
The Pearls measure approx. 2mm x 1.5mm.
MATERIALS: 9ct Rose Gold, Pearl, foiled plastic
HALLMARKS: none present, tested as 9ct Gold
A stunning Georgian era Gold and pearl brooch. This brooch is in excellent condition and is ready to wear and enjoy. All of the seed pearls are original and antique and free of any damage. There are no dings in the gold and the clasp is strong and works well. As previously mentioned the "Paste" gem in the center is actually a plastic replacement which is in no doubt odd for a period piece like this, but don't let it out you off as the colour and the light within the gem is spectacular!
