This rare Victorian 9ct Gold locket is an amazing piece of history and a genuine antique from the Victorian Era, circa 1840! It features a delicate and skillfully engraved belt or buckle motif symbolising an unbreakable and everlasting love... How romantic!
Intricately machine engraved on both sides, the light catches it in such a way that it radiates light!
It's a small, dainty piece but never-the-less highly impactful.. the pattern draws the eye and the slightly domed surface reflects the light beautifully.
We've added a new solid Gold chain so it can be worn with pride for another hundred years.
ERA: Victorian, c.1840
MEASUREMENTS: The Pendant's Length is 25mm (30mm with clasp attached) by 20mm in Width. The Pendant itself weighs a total of 5.6g without a chain.
MATERIALS: 9ct Gold back and front, 9ct Gold.
HALLMARKS: The locket is un-hallmarked but tests as 9ct Gold back and front.
The later chain is marked "375" for 9ct Gold.
EXCELLENT: This Victorian 9ct Gold locket is in excellent condition. The condition is such that it's hard to believe it was made nearly 200 years ago! There are no dents, dings or pinholes and the beautiful engraving and embossed details are pristine; crisp, highly polished and delightful!
The side of the locket with the buckle motif closes tight with a little "click!" and inside we can even see a (very faint) original photograph from all those years ago. We think this could be removed by a jeweller who specialises in antiques, but we've left it as found so you can decide for yourself.
