This rare antique Victorian Aesthetic locket is a beautiful example of jewellery made during the reign of Queen Victoria. You can see from the typically gothic repousse or embossed details and the textured geometric border that it was made during the late 1800's, and it bears the date hallmark for 1881.
This wonderful Sterling Silver locket is one of the most beautiful lockets of this kind that we've come across! The fine craftsmanship and beautiful design means it's feminine despite it's large size, and the pretty bouquet of flowers is absolutely charming. You really can't help but fall in love with it!
As with most of these over-sized Victorian lockets, they work as great statement pieces but this one also has a sense of refinement. The large bale is stylish and perfectly proportioned, and the contrast of different textures and patterns is a real feast for the eyes.
The dainty beaded border around the central panel, the detail in the hand-engraving and the play of light on the zig-zagged edge all bring this locket a sense of romance too, and it has plenty of room to keep two large photographs inside it safely.
This wonderful antique Victorian Aesthetic locket weighs just over 18 grams so it needs a good quality, heavyweight chain to wear it on.
The chain pictured here is not included but a strong heavyweight Silver belcher chain or a medium weight string Silver curb chain can be added at the checkout.

CONDITION: Very Good
One of the most beautiful antique victorian aesthetic silver lockets we've come across! It's in fantastic ready to wear condition with little to give away it's great age other than a little light wear., and of course the date hallmarks! It's very rare to come across antique lockets like this in such good condition, and this one is a real beauty!
The hinge and bale are strong and the locket opens and closes tight. There are two original hallmarked Silver frames inside and one original glass. There are no pin-holes or dents, but there are two light dings to the back. There are also some deeper scratches inside the locket from where previous jewellers have tested the metal, but you cannot see this when the locket is worn and they do no go so deep as to weaken the structure. Their overall wear is very light for an item over 135 years old, and again is mostly to the back. The front of the locket is impeccable!
