This wonderful antique Silver locket was made in England in the year 1885 under the reign of Queen Victoria.
As you can see a combination of patterns and textures, embossed sections and parts in relief create a detailed and lively jewel. In the centre you can see fine & detailed engraved bouquet expertly applied by hand. The different tiers add light and shadow to create a wonderful dramatic appearance and of course the gorgeous star-spangled border is typical of the Victorian Era.
It's a stunning example of repousse work where the locket is painstakingly embossed with wonderful detail & texture. This style of embellishment is often referred to as "Victorian Aesthetic" due to it's popularity during Queen Victoria's reign between 1837 and 1902. And we can understand why they loved it so much!
Full of charm & excellent aged patina.
It's fully hallmarked and a very wearable size.
