Gorgeous Antique Silver Locket with Sweet Birdie - c1880

Gorgeous Antique Silver Locket with Sweet Birdie - c1880

This is by far and away one of our favourite lockets at the moment! It's a genuine antique from the Victorian era, circa late 1800's, and is made from solid Sterling Silver.

It's a medium sized locket so is great for daily wear, but is also big enough to make a statement if you like your jewellery to be a bit more interesting.

To the front we have a sweet little bird, perhaps a robin or a little finch, which has been engraved by hand with the finest detail. Please use the zoom facility to see it at it's best. It is truly remarkable!

The textured embossed finish and pretty beaded edge is typically Victorian, and we just love the look!

It would make a rare and thoughtful gift for any occasion, for a birthday, anniversary or perhaps even a wedding gift?!

ERA:  Victorian (1837-1901)

MEASUREMENTS: The locket measures 32mm wide x 38mm long
Weight: 12.1g

MATERIALS:  Sterling Silver

HALLMARKS:  None present. tests as Sterling Silver

CONDITION:  Excellent
This locket is in fabulous antique condition. The bird engraving on the front is extremely crisp, as is the repousse embossing. What's more is that all of the little beaded edges are intact and un-damaged, which is a very rare find. The hinge is good and strong, as is the bale, so the locket stays closed when worn and will stand up well to daily wear.

There is one original frame and a perspex "window" inside to keep a precious photograph secure. The locket has an attractive high shine polish and is in good, clean condition so you can wear it straight away!
