A gorgeous Georgian mourning locket in 9ct Rose Gold offered in pristine condition.

It's got to be said that Georgian jewellery has enjoyed somewhat of a renaissance of late (pun intended!) and we can easily see why! It's rare, it's regal and full of sentiment.

This antique Rose Gold locket features a domed glazed centre and a rim of perfect glossy black and white striped enamel. Inside a lock of hair has been lovingly plaited and to the reverse the hand-engraved script "Mary Denne / obt 18 June 1800 / at 34".

At 218 years old it's one of the oldest pieces in our collection, and it looks just as stunning now as it did all those decades ago.

EXCELLENT:  This superb Georgian mourning locket is a rare piece of history and is in exemplary antique condition. The black and white / cream enamel is absolutely flawless- which is incredibly rare, as is the glass centre. The quality of the braided hair and the way it's been so well looked after for all these years is a testament to the fine craftsmanship of the era.

*This amazing slice of history was quite obviously designed as a locket we wouldn't recommend opening it, as this would spoil the beautiful hair-work inside. To look after it please keep the locket pendant away from water. Avoid moisture, high heat, extreme cold, extreme pressure, and certainly, don't wear it to the gym! Treated with care and respect there's no reason it can't be around in another 20 years to bring joy and pleasure to its keepers.
