Georgian 9ct Gold Oval 'Weeping Willow' Mourning Ring

This item is unavailable
SKU: x3268

This Georgian 9ct Gold oval 'weeping willow' mourning ring is unlike anything we have ever laid our eyes on before! Her oval face depicts a gorgeously delicate painting of a weeping willow tree arching over an urn, to commemorate the life of Rich Russell Esquire.

On the underside of her bewitching painting, she has been inscribed with Rich Russell Esquire, ob 30 Sept 1784, Age 61, into her blushed 9ct Gold. Mourning jewellery was worn to represent a connection to a deceased love one during the Georgian era, and it even became popular to leave money in your will to have mourning rings made for a loved one.

When graced upon your hand her oval shape elongates your finger, with fine etch work around her border for an extra touch of detail. The smooth band makes for comfortable wear, the perfect addition to your antique jewellery collection.
