This charming French Art Nouveau Silver bangle is just as beautiful today as it would have been when it was first made, at the turn of the 20th century!
Both sides are decorated with a typically Nouveau design; full of flowers and wandering tendrils and a lovely textured border.
The bangle is hinged so it easy to get on quickly, and has an oval shape so it doesn't spin on the wrist. Despite its age it's a sturdy bangle, made better still by an original safety chain so you can wear it daily safe in the knowledge it is safe.
As antique bangles go this one is beautiful and has a good weight. The design is completely unique, and would make a gorgeous gift for any occasion.
ERA: Art Nouveau (1890-1910)
MEASUREMENTS: The inner circumference is 17cm or 6.7".
The width measures 12mm, and is 3mm deep.
HALLMARKS: The French Boar's Head, Maker's Mark (possibly Albert Schiffmker, c.1912).
A stunning repousse Antique Silver bangle in perfect condition. The hinge and clasp are in good working order and close securely. The safety chain is original and still strong, with no stretched or weak links. The best thing about this bangle is undoubtedly the gorgeous wildlife fora and fauna- which would make an amazing gift for someone of almost any age.
We procured the bangle in France, although we believe it is probably Swiss or German rather than French. It doesn't feature the traditional French animal hallmarks for Silver, but the use of 800 purity Silver was widespread in this area of the world during the art Nouveau period, and the style is very much in-keeping with the region and the late 1800's to early 1900's time-frame.
