This rare piece of history is a genuine antique mourning ring from the Victorian era, and is made from solid 15ct Gold, fine black enamel work and seed Pearls.
Mourning jewellery like this was often used to remember a family member or loved one that had passed, and became very popular after King Albert passed away in 1861. Queen Victoria went into a long period of mourning to display her love and respect for Albert, and wore only black for over 30 years.
This beautiful mourning ring features a central glazed panel, and within it an original sepia toned antique photograph of a Victorian lady. We do not know much about this lady, but we often look and think about her life, and that's part of the appeal of rare treasures like these. The mystery, the history, the not knowing.
Circa 1870, this antique mourning ring is in exemplary condition. The natural seed Pearls have a pretty ivory to peach colour tone and perfectly match the warm colour of the 15ct Gold.
We also love the bold enamel work which gives this ring such regality and flair!
It's a rare piece of history that's beautiful, intriguing, emotive, and offered in gorgeous condition. What more it feel very comfortable to wear and is sure to take pride of place for any collector.

This exceptional antique mourning ring is in excellent, ready to wear condition. The band has only light wear commensurate with age and has not thinned to the back like so many antique rings do. The black enamel patterns are also in excellent condition with no missing sections or sections that are flaking. The Pearls are all original and intact. They have a little wear to the nacre but still have an attractive pearly ivory lustre. The central glazed panel is intact which is quite rare of a piece of this age. It's clearly been well made all those years ago. The glass does have two small flea-bites to the edge, but for an item of this age and quality we think she looks amazing! Ready to wear.
