This charming double snake ring is an authentic antique piece made in London in 1852. It's made from glowing 18ct Yellow Gold and features two fully faceted old cut Diamonds.
At 165 years old this ring is a scarce, collectible antique in rare fine antique condition. The Gold is smoothly polished to a high shine and is beautifully designed as two snakes embracing.
In the 1800's snakes or serpents were a mysterious and beguiling symbol. They represented a dual expression of good and evil, fertility and rebirth, poison and medicine. When King Albert proposed to Victoria with a snake ring with an Emerald head in 1837 they became ever popular still- the winding, looping body of the snake becoming a symbol of eternal and ever-lasting love.
An extra-ordinary piece of history and a true joy for any collector.

This ring is in fantastic condition throughout. Both diamonds are bright, white and sparkly and the gold is free from any scratches or scuffs. The inside of the band shows very slight wearing commensurate with age as seen in the photographs, most apparent where the hallmarks are starting to become slightly less pronounced. There is no evidence of re-sizing or any alterations. The ring is precisely as it would have been when it was made 165 years ago. A truly stunning example of a rare Victorian two-headed snake ring!
