This rare Victorian Silver bypass bangle is one of the most unusual we've seen from this era. For an item that was designed and patented around the year 1882, it's one of the coolest, most stylish bangles we've come across.

Crafted in Victorian England during the 1800's it has a beautiful curvy bypass design that's easy to wear, and lots of romantic antique patterns and textures -including a charming slithering snake twisted around each end!

The bangle features a cool punk-like studded design and pretty floral cannetile details.

Not only is it beautiful but it's a robust piece that has stood the test time and continues to be in good wearable condition today.

The bangle is fully hallmarked with the unique "Kite" hallmark which dates it to circa 1882. It would make a rare and unusual gift or an antique addition to your jewellery box that everyone will covet!

ERA:  Victorian (1837-1901)

MEASUREMENTS: The total internal circumference measures 6.75" / 17cm
The width of the band is 8mm, with the rounded ends measuring 15mm.
Weight: 12.4g

MATERIALS:  Sterling Silver

HALLMARKS:  Lozenge style patent mark: "1, 9, 14, R, L, D".

The hallmark here is an unusual one unique to English items. The lozenge or "KiteMark" doesn't give us the year an item was made or stamped, but rather when it was patented, so it doesn't give us a precise date of when the item was crafted but it does give us a "ball-park" time-frame.

The number "1" at the top of the lozenge tell us this item was class 1, or the best quality of Silver plating available at the time. "9" refers to the date in the month, "L" refers to September, and "D" refers to the fact this design was patented in the year 1882.

CONDITION: Very Good

This authentic antique Victorian Silver bypass bangle is in fantastic condition! After 135 years the it looks great with no dents, splits or dings. The stylish stud like pattern and snake motif has taken on a dark aged patina that suits the item perfectly and we can still see all the pretty detailing in the floral cannetile work too!

The three dimensional parts of the bangle looks almost mint, with only minor signs of wear commensurate with age. There is slight gold tone to the back of the bangle which looks to be merely a sign of age or tarnish. We've polished it up as best we can and it's quite subtle so doesn't take away the charm of the piece. It's in good working condition so you can wear it straight away, and the clear hallmarks on both sides of the bangle confidently place it as a rare piece of Victoriana that any collector can be proud of.
