We love a nice antique Silver Niello chain here at Lillicoco and this really is a very fine example. At its core, this necklace is made of Sterling Silver links which have been alternately treated with Niello stripes and Rose Gold plating. The result is a gorgeous three tone statement necklace that is sure to draw the admiration of friends and strangers alike!
We love the attention to detail in this piece, particularly in the Niello dog-clip, with those lovely black stripes on both the inside and outside of the clasp. The flattering long-link design makes this an elegant option either for wearing alone or to match with an antique pendant or locket.
If you're looking for an antique necklace that isn't just your ordinary run-of-the-mill Silver chain then this is the piece for you!
ERA: Victorian c.1890
MEASUREMENTS: The chain itself is 19" in length, with the links being 13-15mm long.
MATERIALS: Sterling Silver, Rose Gold Plating, Niello
HALLMARKS: Lion Passant for Sterling, Makers mark "G&W"
EXCELLENT: This Antique Silver niello chain is in remarkable condition for a Victorian piece. The Niello and Gold plating are starting to wear slightly thinner where the links connect with one another, but this really isn't noticeable at all unless you're inspecting the piece very carefully. The links are all nice and sturdy, and the dog-clip springs back into place nicely, so you can wear this chain with confidence! A real collector's item - no antique jewellery box is complete without a Niello chain!
