How delightful is this antique Jet fob pendant! Her body is formed of chunky ornate shapes and engravings, making a great statement pendant. Her base holds a magnificent slab of Jet, flaunting a matt coal hue.
Jet is a gemstone actually derived from wood that undergoes extreme pressure and heat. Jet went on to be used in a lot of mourning jewellery and other jewellery after Queen Victoria had Whitby Jet incorporated into her dress after Prince Albert's passing.
The Jet in this piece has an intaglio of a snail with the words 'Always at Home' arched above. We feel this is such a sweet message and motif, sure to put a smile on the face of anyone who is lucky enough to receive an envelope wax sealed with this.

Condition:
GOOD. This antique Jet fob pendant is in good condition. Due to her grand age, there is wear to her Gold plating and some discolouration but her structural integrity has remained. The Jet is secure in her settings, with an admirable matt hue throughout. There are some nibbles across the surface of the Jet but her intaglio is clear and crisp. A delightful piece of Victorian jewellery overall!
