Victorian Gold Brooch - Circa 1830

This item is unavailable
SKU: 384

This Victorian Gold Brooch is a wonderful antique memorial brooch and truly a one of a kind featuring fine 9ct Gold cannetile scrolls & single dainty natural Seed Pearl.

"Cannetille is a close relative of filigree work, typically featuring fine gold wires or thinly hammered sheets crafted into scrolls, tendrils and other delicate patterns. Jewellery with cannetille was very popular in the 1820's and 1830's"

It's not only a beautiful item of itself but really is a fantastic piece of history, dating somewhere in the crossover between the Georgian & Victorian Eras.

On the back reads "IN MEMORY OF MRS HEARN", accompanied by two tiny Fleur-de-lys symbols either side in typical black enamel.

ERA:  Victorian

MEASUREMENTS: The brooch itself is a dainty and feminine thing. It's fairly small, measuring 40mm wide x 12mm tall at it's widest point, and the delicate Gold-work, beaded edge and beautiful miniature knots all add to the effect.
