This exceptional Sterling Silver Paste heart pendant is a genuine Georgian piece, circa 1800.
In 1724, French jeweller Georges Frédéric Strass invented “Paste,” a leaded glass that was the painstakingly cut & polished with metal powder until it appeared to shimmer like a diamond in the light. It was an instant hit with the tres chic Parisian high society and continues to be highly collectible today.
This little heart has been skillfully adorned with 25 individually cut and hand-set Paste gemstones that sparkle beautifully, and they really stand out from the aged and darkened Silver. It looks stunning worn on a simple Silver chain or velvet as a necklace, or could be fitted to a cherished charm bracelet.
It's a fairly dainty size which makes it extremely versatile, and can be worn day or night to the delight of all! What she lacks in size she makes up for in sheer quality as every single paste is pristine, with no chips or scuffs or nibbles. This is extremely rare of jewellery of this age and is definitely a prize to covet!
