These stunning antique French Paste drop earrings are a wonder to behold! Crafted from Silver, glittering Paste gems, we can't quite believe the beauty of them!
"Pendoloque" earrings were popular during the late 18th Century and were classified as long or drop earrings with a signature pear or teardrop shape. Their beautiful shapes and proportions were all exceedingly flattering and thus were the rage across the globe, from around 1770 up to 1840.
Although very similar to Portuguese pendoloque earrings, these beauties are actually French and bear the rare French boar's head for high purity Silver- dating them to around 1830 to 1840.
The earrings are constructed from three separate sections which are articulated, so they sway gently as you move. And if you're familiar with antique jewellery they can be removed and added to shorten or lengthen the earrings as appropriate; hence the name "day and night earrings"!
