Antique 9ct Gold Pearl Bird Brooch, with Box c.1900

This item is unavailable
SKU: 1558

What a glorious little bird brooch!

This antique 9ct Gold Pearl bird brooch is a real thing of beauty, made around  the year 1900. It has a whimsical, elegant design, and we simply adore the way the bird is carrying a tiny Seed Pearl in its mouth... it's just charming!

It comes with what appears to be the original E.Selgroves satin and velvet-lined  leather box, which like the brooch itself is in exceptional condition.

It would make a fantastic gift no matter what the occasion, but we think it would be especially apt as a wedding gift, as birds were often linked with love and romance.

The brooch looks great as is, or is a great candidate for conversion into a stunning ring or necklace. If you're interested in converting this brooch please get in touch for any help or advise!

VERY GOOD:  This superb antique 9ct Gold bird brooch is very good condition, and is ready to be worn or gifted. We cannot say how thrilled we are to have such a gorgeous piece of history in our collection- especially with the original box! All parts of the brooch, including the setting and all those pretty Pearls are original and antique, and the Pearls still have a fantastic lustre and shine. There is a small ding on the Gold sphere on the left-hand side of the brooch, but this is not very noticeable when worn, the brooch is still of solid construction.  The brooch opens and closes securely with a smooth and pleasing motion, and is suitable to wear even on thicker fabric such as wool or tweed as the pin is quite robust. A real quality piece of early 20th-century jewellery.

The antique leather jewellery box is also in very good condition. It opens and closes shut tight and keeps the brooch snugly in place.
