Description:

SOLD!

Expertly inlaid with a stunning intaglio engraved natural Citrine, this handsome antique 9ct Gold Citrine intaglio fob pendant is a classic piece of early Victorian jewellery.

Originally crafted by hand over 150 years ago, the Gold-work features heavily embossed floral motifs and the intaglio has pretty lemony hues that are both pleasing to the eye & functional. Indeed the fob would have been used to seal letters with the family crest and motto " Mutare Vel Timere Sperno"- which can be translated from the original Latin to "I Spurn The Fear To Change".

This is accompanied by a side profile of a roaring Lion. Wear this impressive Victorian intaglio fob with pride.

Condition:

VERY GOOD. This antique 9ct Gold Citrine intaglio wax seal fob is in very good condition. The Citrine gemstone is absolutely stunning, with a rich lemony hue with no cracks or chips! There is some subtle surface wear to the Citrine but the intaglio engraving has kept very well considering its great age. The motto is easily deciphered and the Lion motif still quite crisp. The stone itself is a natural gem &  is secure in the setting. The Gold cased pillar is simply divine, and every nook and cranny is lovely. There is little wear to the fob overall, only some subtle darker spots of patina in the embossed recesses & age-appropriate wear on the corners as you might expect of an authentic antique Gold-cased fob.
