A stunningly beautiful piece of early 20th Century jewellery in near mint condition, complete with an original antique engraving.
This ring is an extremely interesting piece of history and spans an important transitional period in antique jewellery. The Victorians were very fond of pairing rich 18ct Yellow Gold, Pearls and Turquoise- as we see here. However we also see design features that became more popular later on during the Art Nouveau and Edwardian Eras, for instance the unusual boat shape of the setting, and of course the beautifully designed knife-edge style scrolled shoulders.
The ring has a domed 2.5mm band at the back which is sturdy and comfortable to wear, which then changes to a more angular style at the front that really compliments the stylish, unusual setting at the front.
The gemstones are in impeccable condition for their age. The Turquoise are smooth cabochon cuts and range from a bright duck-egg blue in the centre to a more mottled sea green to the sides. The natural Pearls have excellent silvery-cream lustre and again are in such good condition they seem to glow!
Inside the ring in script we see the engraving: "M.H. W.H."
We love seeing initials inside a ring as we think it gives a piece like this a great sense of history and uniqueness. From the engraving our guess would be that this was once a gift from a husband to his wife over a century ago.
A gorgeous gift ready to wear and enjoy.

This ring is in really lovely antique condition. The Pearls have a wonderful lustre and nacre coverage and are free from any scratches or abrasions. The Turquoise has some natural fleck of colour due to the natural matrix structure of the gems and are also free from any damage. The Gold is marvellous, with a wonderful warm glow and the band isn't showing any signs of wear. There are no visible signs of re-sizing so we infer this ring is in its original antique condition.
