This 9ct Gold Edwardian oval locket is so sweet. This is a classic design, with many period features which are commonly seen in Victorian jewellery. The ivy leaf engravings, the shield and the foliate mount where the bale is attached all appear frequently in pieces from this era.
This locket is packed with sentimental symbolism. Ivy leaves represent everlasting love, this meaning being derived from the evergreen leaves and the way that ivy clings tightly to whatever it is growing against and constantly strives to climb towards the sky. The shield is for protection, in this case, it represents the symbolic protection of the people featured in the photographs within.
What a perfect way to keep your loved ones close to your heart. As such, this locket would make for a very romantic and thoughtful gift. Simply add some photographs to make it your own!

VERY GOOD: The most important thing with antique lockets is the hinge and clasp, both of which are in perfect condition here. This means that the locket functions properly and stays firmly shut when not in use. The Gold is gorgeous, with a warm rosy colour. There is a small ding to the bottom of the back of the locket but you'd not notice it unless you were looking for it, and it has no impact on the structural integrity or beauty of the piece. It's a lovely, sentimental piece of antique jewellery that is ready to be worn and loved!
