This rare 18ct Gold Blister Pearl & Marcasite ring is one of our all-time favourites here at Lillicoco! Hallmarked with the coveted French Eagle's head, and capturing so many period design details, it's an amazing heirloom that wouldn't be out of place in a museum.
The French Eagles head indicates that beautiful 3-pronged split shank was crafted from 18ct Gold, and would have been made circa 1840, just as the Georgian era came to a close. The top and settings are high purity Silver as was typical of the time.
At its centre lies a beautiful natural blister Pearl; slightly domed and ivory white with a sheen of pale iridescent colours moving across the surface. This is surrounded by a halo of really dark Marcasites giving this ring a real moody, edgy allure!
The back of the Pearl is also covered in smooth concave Silver so it feels gorgeous on.
Crafted with the utmost care and attention, this ring has stood the test of time for nearly 200 years! It still has plenty of life left and luckily won't break the bank either!

This rare 18ct Gold Blister Pearl & Marcasite ring is in fantastic condition! It's hard to believe it could have been made as early as 1837! ..Truly a marvel to behold. The blister Pearl is in excellent condition; with a smooth glossy surface and an array of oil-slick colours beneath its Pearly lustre. The Marcasites are all original and well-matched and have that gorgeous dark gun-metal grey sparkle. One or two have small nicks but there are no significant chips, (which is incredible when you consider this ring is nearly 200 years old!) and all of the gems are still held firmly in place. The beautiful split shank is well-constructed and not flimsy at all so you can wear it on a day to day basis (with care!). The French Eagle head hallmark is present but needs a trained eye to make out what it is. All in all an exceptional, rare and beautiful Victorian ring for your collection.
