This striking antique 18ct Gold wax seal pendant is the perfect accessory for any woman who loves Georgian jewellery!
Pretty scrolled patterns dance across the domed surface leading the gaze towards the bold acanthus leaf motif attaching the bale to you necklace. Clasped proudly on the base is a bright orange Carnelian with a sentimental intaglio engraved across its surface.
Depicting a tree with a fallen branch and a mixture of Latin, French and Italian, the intaglio reads "ma con caugiar s'ua piega, recider l'alder pugi", which translates roughly as "bringing fallen trees into the fold". We believe this to symbolise the circle of life and was possibly worn as a piece of mourning jewellery.
ERA: Georgian (1714-1830)
MEASUREMENTS: 21mm long x 15.5mm wide x 13mm deep
The Carnelian is 13.5mm long x 11mm wide
