This antique Gold Carnelian family crest fob has a rich and varied history to tell. The heraldic family crest features a severed right hand, two lion passants and a racing greyhound poised atop the intaglio. Though we cannot completely confidently date and prescribe this intaglio to a certain family, we have a strong belief that this is from the Irish Geoghegan or O'Niell families, as this crest is remarkably similar to theirs.
The severed right hand is a traditional ancient Gaelic symbol and is now associated with the province of Ulster in Northern Ireland. It is likely that this fob was used to not only weigh down pocket watches but also to stamp important correspondence.

EXCELLENT: This antique Gold Carnelian Irish family crest fob is in fantastic condition throughout.
